The serum would have to change Mortys body into a Rick body due to the fact that there’s an episode where Rick creates a teenage clone that looks completely different to morty

The seeds of morty being Rick have literally been planted since episode 1

It’s shown in the episode with the giant heads that ricks ok with lying about there being no portal fluid in his portal device which for all we know it could be an infinite source. So by lieing to morty Rick managed to let the seed dissolve

Also in the first episode Rick goes to an alternate dimension where they’ve cured ageing. Mortys then injected with a serum which heals Mortys broken bones. This serum likely cured all ailments as such a dimension wouldn’t want to deal with the inconvenience of injecting multiple serums to cure many ailments a person might have.

Then morty Rick is just a morty who got smart early and changed his hair

Is this what Rick is drinking all along? This would also explain Ricks hatred for Jerry who is the contributor to Morty's stupidity. Also in the Rickshank Redemption Rick fools his captor into "a fabricated origin story". The Rick in the story is wearing blue pants, and when asked "who is that?", Rick responds "me used to wear blue pants". The list goes on to support Rick being future Morty which would also pay homage to Heinlines "All You Zombies" short story.

There’s one hole in your theory. At the last scene, where Jerry calls Rick, he says that they had a baby named Morty. Now, if morty is Rick, this makes no sense. Because Jerry is still the father in law and they still had a boy named Morty. There’s no one related to Morty/Rick besides Beth, Summer, and Jerry I guess. So, if Morty grew up to become Rick and this is set in the future, it wouldn’t make any sense. If Morty just instantly becomes Rick and this is set like maybe a month after Japan blew up, it would also make zero sense.

ok im 6 months late but whatever. here is my theory, MatPat. maybe jerry calling rick is really easy to explain? If everyone is destroyed because of changing people memories then there are no memories outside of tokio. If whole tokio is destroyed then there is only one person (with memories) left, our morty with additional memories transplanted from ricks brain. Maybe this memories create everything from beggining? maybe they were even altered for this purpose? only ricks memories create all people on earth. it isn't a time travel cause all other planets and dimensions are still uneffected. only earth history is moved a few years.

So, if memories define the past, present and future, then wouldn't the loss of memories mess with time? Just, hear me out. Japan was destroyed and the only person left was Morty, who started rebuilding the 14 year ago version of Japan, and we hear the call saying the Morty was just born. That means that Japan was sent back 14 years ago, but because there were no main memories of the place, Japan was put out of time with the rest of the world. Since it was on a different plane of existence, the first memories of Japan could have decided where Japan as then put in relation to the time of Earth. So, it isn't really time ravel but disassociating Japan through time and reassociating it back 14 years prior to Japan being destroyed.

I think it’s much more likely that the potion gave morty ricks memory’s and form rather than the whole morty growing into Rick thing.

Everyone wat if in evil mortys dimension the roles are swapped so you have evil morty and slow Rick which means the roles are swapped. It is also said in s1ep1 that morty has some sort of disability which is why when the roles are swapped Rick is slow. Rick is called evil on multiple occasions therefore morty would be evil if the roles were swapped. AND ricks hate themselves the most and in s3 when morty ejects Rick in the space could show how much he hates them HOWEVER the only thing that could make this theory invalid is that when morty is asked who his Rick is he said the moved around a lot anyway thanks for reading please like so others can see ❤️

This makes sense and before watching this I was thinking of if there was a Rick that some how transform himself into a Morty but kept his intelligence, memories, and etc but the Citadel couldn’t track him because his (Morty) brain cancels out his original brain.

What doesn't make sense about the transformation theory- if C137 Rick is a Morty, then every Rick is a Morty. The stimulus of evil Morty forcing C137 Rick's hand to turn his Morty into a Rick with a potion can't be happening in every reality where Rick exists.
